Bentley School Art Students Garner Top
Awards
The following article was published on March 24, 2006 in the Hills
Newspaper:
Nine Bentley School Students were selected to present selected pieces
from the 2006 Youth Art Competition. The works of twenty young
artists are on display in at the Oakland International Airport through
the end of April 2006. This competition, sponsored by the Oakland
School for the Arts and the Port of Oakland, was open to all Oakland
residents between Kindergarten and 5th grade. Local professionals on
the bases of creativity, technique, composition, and skill level
evaluated submissions. Richard P. Fitzgerald, Headmaster of Bentley
noted, "With nine of the twenty young artists representing Bentley
School, it illustrates the depth and breadth of our visual arts and
academic programs. Our long time art instructor, David Hershcopf,
continues to inspire our students and in doing so, has created a
standard of excellence for Bentley that is unmatched."
