Head of School's Message

Dear All,
Welcome to Bentley. For nearly a century, Bentley School has enhanced its legacy of excellence in teaching and learning. In an environment where every student is known and valued as an individual, academic rigor goes hand in hand with social-emotional learning from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. With two beautiful campuses in Oakland and Lafayette, and the Promise of Bentley School guiding us, our community is grounded in a sense of place and possibility. Our families represent all backgrounds and ethnicities, reflecting the remarkable diversity of the Bay Area.

We cherish potential and, even more, fulfill it. We want students to explore the arts, love the sciences, and embrace curiosity of all kinds. The balance of mind and body is fundamental to the way our students learn in the wide range of academic, artistic, and athletic opportunities offered in each of our Lower, Middle, and Upper School divisions. Bentley students expect a lot from themselves, and care and cooperate for the good of all. Resilience, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills complement habits of mind developed by exploring the humanities, arts, and sciences.

Our talented faculty members are innovative, collaborative professionals, dedicated to professional development that supports our students' growth. With our motto Scire Desidero (I Desire to Know) as our guiding principle, our teachers, students, and alumni exemplify the drive and discipline of successful lifelong learners.

We hope you will visit Bentley soon. We look forward to sharing with you the great people, programs, and pride that are the hallmarks of Bentley.
