Choosing the right college can be described as one of the first entirely personal decisions in a young person’s life. It is the goal of the College Counseling Office at Bentley to create an open-minded environment in which students can explore the eternal questions of “Who am I and what do I want?” We help each student enroll in the college or university most appropriate for his or her academic and personal needs and aspirations.
The college search can be both time-consuming and fraught with anxiety, but it also is an exciting journey of self-discovery and change. We approach this important process as a collaboration among students, their families, teachers, and coaches to help manage the application and selection processes, prepare for the transition to college, and optimize their opportunities for a successful college experience.
We encourage our students to begin their exploration as early as their freshman and sophomore years, but the process begins in earnest during the junior year with the first formal meeting with the College Counseling Office, test preparation, web searches and college visits. Bentley hosts over 100 college and university representatives throughout the fall and juniors and seniors are encouraged to meet with them.
The college search and application process is a time when students will learn a new and applied form of communication with parents, counselors and teachers in order to make a personal and informed decision. The Bentley College Counseling Office is here to act as students' primary resource, support, and advocate throughout this exciting process.
